How to Reach PortMiami (Dodge Island)

Determining, which ride is right for you can not only lengthen but quite a bit delay embarkation day. To quickly get on to your voyage, you can choose to breezeway or, if money and your compatriots permits, take local trains.

From Airport

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): directly outside of your terminal entrance are the pickup areas for rideshare. A rideshare from Miami should be between twenty-five and fifty-five dollars from Ft. Lauderdale.

Taxi: Taxi stands are situated just beyond the arrivals doorway. The cost to Miami International airport is generally about $ 25-32.

Shuttles: On 3 departure, you get the first official shuttles that brought passengers from the airport to the cruise ship. It would have been in the order of 20− 40, and booking would have been necessary.

Public Transportation: Go to the Downtown Miami on Metrorail the Orange Line (cost is only 2.25 dollars). Change to Coral Way Trolley (free) and you will be dropped off just outside of the cruise terminal!

From City Center

Taxi Fares: Straight forward to grab a metered taxi out from major city centre hotels. They will cross over the causeway fairly quickly to get to the ships at the port.

Local Trolley Services: Use Downtown Miami's free Coral Way Trolley. The trolley travels Port Boulevard and gets you within walking distance of the ships.

Parking:

Daily parking fee for long-stay lots: parking garages in official PortMiami parking are priced from $22-$35 per day. Cost for parking outside official PortMiami lots:outside the port, parking is less expensive -- rates start around $8 and go up to about $15 per day.

Drop-Off Guidelines: traffic lanes to the curb can be used for dropping passengers off in the departure lanes located in front of the terminal entrance. Please ensure drivers remain in the vehicle or be prepared to be ticketed or towed.

Embarkation Day Guidelines and Pro Tips

On embarkation day routines are strictly laid out to accommodate check in time. After all cruise lines assign different check in times so thousands of passengers are not there at once. Keep your procedures simple for your paperwork and luggage to make it the easiest part of your day.

Boarding time windows: the cruise lines will have a long range for boarding time, starting from 11 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. Do NOT come before your set time, otherwise you have to wait outside until your window opens.

Document needs: pack all your personal identification and travel documents into your own carry on bag. Don't forget your passport or birth certificate if applicable, and your government issued photo ID, when approaching to check in. Ensure you have your boarding pass (paper copy or electronic) ready when approaching to check in.

Luggage porter customs: Porters will take your large checked luggage at the curb and bring it up to the ship. Tip them 2 to 5 dollars for all the bags that they help take for you. Make sure the official cruise tags are stapled tightly so your luggage gets in your cabin with you.

Check in: there will be very long security lines in the 1130AM130PM time frame. Waiting time is 3045 min. during the 1130AM130PM window, but it would be much shorter if you are a suite guest or VIP member with access to priority access lines.

Navigation tips: through the PortMiami Tunnel, you will be able to avoid all of the horrible downtown traffic backup. Remember to always park in the garage that corresponds to the letter of your cruise terminal. Surface Lot E will be a way shorter drive home if departing from Terminal D or E.
